Our Success Stories

In the 12 years since the College was started from a rented house, offering just one course, with one teacher and 30 students, we have grown and developed into an organization we are extremely proud of and seek to continually develop.

Our achievements include:

  1. Over 300 students have completed their courses and are now working and supporting their families.
  2. We have purchased two hectares of land in Bwindi to house the College.
  3. We have constructed four classrooms and a hostel for male students.
  4. Our courses have grown from the original one course, to now having three technical courses and three business courses at certificate level. All of these courses are also now offered at diploma level to help our students upgrade their skills and marketability in the workplace.
  5. Our enrolments have increased from 30 per year to the current level of 89 students. We expect it to increase more depending on the available facilities, like decent hostels.
  6. Our workforce has increased to its current level of 10 teachers and two administrative staff.
  7. The college garage and the mechanics play a big role in fixing and repairing the tourist vehicles and other vehicles in the community. Previously they had to drive 45 kilometres to get the services we provide.

BCVC has Memorandums of Understanding with most tourist lodges and hotels in and around the Bwindi areas to supply them with trained and professional staff, and over 50 students are now happily working in these environments.

BCVC feels proud of its students who are running their own businesses, especially those in the technical department.  Our mechanical students have started their own garages in their respective towns and are servicing their communities.  A number of our students from the Tailoring/Fashion design courses have started businesses and are earning incomes to support their families.
